I called in to ask how to get into My Account so that i can print my social security statement. I retired in 2017 and forgot to change my email address before i retired. I gave identification information on the phone and then was told it would be up to an hour wait to get help. I guess i will have to go into the office to get help. I understand almost all federal agencies are terribly understaffed but it is still frustrating.

OMG! First of all, the woman who answered my call did not say her name. I’m guessing it’s because she didn’t want anyone to be able to report her.

I’m trying to help my 75 year old mom, who is in a nursing home. The woman I spoke to was rude and inpatient. She talked over me and was not listening and acted as though I needed to just shut up and listen to her.

I understood what she was telling me, but the way she spoke to me was unprofessional. She softened some towards the end but the damage was done.

It is not easy being a caretaker to an aging parent. I understand that there are criminals trying to steal identities and so forth, but please don’t assume that everyone who calls you is a criminal.
